Description
Cinnamon needs no introduction for its spicy fragrance as it is so commonly used in bread, apple pie, ice-cream, tea, curries, roast and many other dishes around the world. The pure Cinnamon in stick form is the delicate bark of tropical tree (Cinnamomum verum) native to Sri Lanka and South India and it is considered to be superior in characteristic to Cassia, a lesser cinnamon-tree relative whose bark is widely used by North American. The two can be distinguished by the shape of their barks - true cinnamon is always rolled, and cassia bark is flat and usually chipped. When cinnamon is grounded into powder form, it is most intense in its aroma. It is one of the most favoured ingredient for bakery goods, condiments, beverages, curry powder and many other savoury products.
